The Tragic but True Meaning of Halloween
In case you haven't noticed, Halloween is in two days. What does that mean to you? Perhaps it means you get to dress up and go get strangers to put sugary treats in a bag, or perhaps you're on the other side of the door and it means you need to head to Walmart and stock up on candy just to get rid of it when obnoxious kids with cheesy costumes arrive at you're door. Unfortunately, Halloween brings on a whole new terror for me. Christmas music.
You're probably questioning how I could possibly have this trouble so soon, or how it's even a problem to begin with. I can easily explain the second question. It's October! I don't want to be in a christmas spirit quite yet. I still have a couple months to go. The first question is a bit more complicated.
You see, every year is our first concert is typically in October. Unfortunately, the next one is always our christmas concert. I hope you can see where I'm going by now. The moment our first concert is over, rehearsal for the next one begins. So being a band geek, plus our first concert passing, plus the next one being for christmas, equals Christmas music in October.
Don't get me wrong. I LOVE Christmas and the music that comes with it, but just not so early. Unfortunately, there's not too much thanksgiving music to help me get through until its really time to get ready for Christmas.

My Face Hates Me So Much Right Now...
I have recently challenged myself to something most of my fellow students and bandmates would think of as one of the most idiotic things possible. Today I played at least six hours of trumpet, and yes it hurts after a while. How exactly does this extensive amount of playing time come to be? For one thing, I have rehearsals before and after school, for varsity jazz band and pit orchestra. And that's only to add on to the two classes I have during the school day.
If you don't think I'm insane by now then you're probably one of three things. Either you're doing the exact same thing as me, you have no clue what I'm even talking about, or you are insane. If you aren't one of the first two then I suggest you take this test, and possibly seek psychiatric help.
Despite how nearly impossible this feat is, I have done nothing but benefit from it. Believe it or not playing up to six hours a day actually makes you better after a while! (mind blown). There of course is harmful parts about playing so much. In fact, it's currently 9:30 pm and I can still feel where the metal mouthpiece caused the inside of my lip to press against my braces, which is the hardest part about playing that long. Especially for me. Luckily, I should be getting my braces off soon. Hopefully, that will help me play for hours on end without completely tiring out too much.

One Huge Breath and the Noise That Follows
Standing in crowded bleachers with over a hundred other people with metal touching my face half the time. Oh yeah, for around three hours. Now how exactly does that sound to you? Horrendous, terrifying, appalling, maybe gruesome? You're Wrong! Believe it or not, that exact thing has been the best time of my school year so far. How exactly? Well, those hundred people are some of the best friends I've ever had, that hunk of metal is basically most of my life, but it's still freezing cold. Cons: 1, Pros: 2 Pros win!
Now you're probably still wondering what on earth I could possibly be talking about, and that can be answered with two words. Two mostly typical words that when brought together has brought more joy into my life then almost anything. Pep band. Though I play in four other bands other than pep band, in this one I get to make more noise on more songs where I can get more creative with what exactly I'm playing. And by that i mean taking songs up octaves and playing about five times louder then what I thought was humanly possible. It's extremely fun.
With the description I've given this absolutely fantastic event so far, I would hope you would believe me that it is one of the most incredible things someone could ever possibly do. However, not everyone thinks this. In fact, some people find it dreadful. Standing out in the cold, doing something they don't even enjoy. Well I am in no way imaginable like one of those people. In fact I would say I'm the greatest conceivable inverse of those people. I am fairly certain that we are so different that an overextension of my contact with those people would cause the world to implode. It's that big of a deal. So in conclusion, pep band is so fantastically amazing that it could somehow cause the world to implode. It's kind of a big deal.
